[dropcap size=small]R[/dropcap]yohei Murakami was one of several budding Japanese fashion designers who presented creations during for the Soen Prize contest at Bunka fashion college in Tokyo on April 23, 2013. Sixteen designers took part in the competition. Murkami caught everybody’s eye with his couturier’s reinterpretation of Manga comic themes executed with a brilliant technique. With many of Europe’s designers seemingly running out of new ideas women when need to turn once more to Japan to find truly innovative work. The Soen Prize website offers a thrilling window into what fashion could look like it it stopped being dominated by corporate behemouths.
