When Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos won the latest British Fashion Council/Vogue Design Fund award last December Alexandra Schulman, Editor of British Vogue and Chair of the British Fashion Council described the prize as “much deserved” and complimented the much admired duo for staying “true to their vision of a print and colour focused brand” and for “managing to expand and grow the business to a level where they can now compete on an international stage.” Pilotto and de Vos met during their studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium. Launching their label Peter Pilotto in 2007, they have since established themselves as favourites of the fashion industry as well as many red carpet celebrities. They have built a unique brand with their signature print and sculptural silhouettes – but their plans go much, much further. Caroline Rush, the Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council, said, “They demonstrated that they are a thriving fashion label with a great vision to take the next step in building a global designer fashion brand.”
We at The Fashionable Truth agree – they have brought a unique quality to the fashion industry, one that gives us new ways to express ourselves. There’s every chance they will go on to become an established international brand and they can already been found in Hong Kong at Joyce Boutique. Their new Spring Summer collection has just arrived in town. When you look at the pedigree of previous The BFC/Vogue Design Fund winners – Nicholas Kirkwood, Jonathan Saunders, Christopher Kane and Erdem – the future for Peter Pilotto looks bright. It’s a good job they love colour so much.
