Fashion house Balenciaga has taken its case against former creative director Nicolas Ghesquière out of the courtroom and into private, opting to attempt mediation instead. Balenciaga is seeking damages of €7m from Ghesquière, claiming that the designer breached a confidentiality agreement when he left the brand by mutual agreement in 2012. It stated that he could not make any harmful declarations about his former employer or its parent owner, Kering. At the time the Frenchman, now artistic director of womenswear at Louis Vuitton, was paid €6.6m (£5.58m) as compensation for breaking his employment contract. Read more.
